What gets in the way of your goals?

Section 4 : It’s possible to plan too much

80%

It’s far better to head into the unknown with a map rather than wander aimlessly. But sometimes we plan as a way of avoiding action. In this situation, planning allows us to feel like we’re making progress. We might make a plan and then refine the plan. Then reconsider the steps leading up to the plan, and then decide the whole plan needs revising.

Planning without action is just procrastination. If you find yourself making elaborate plans and then never acting on them, you should examine the possibility that you plan as a way of keeping yourself busy. You create the illusion of action so that you can feel better about staying in one place. If this is you, remember that you can revise your plan once you’re on your way. Just get moving!
