At the heart of this issue is the need for self-acceptance. Wishing to be someone else implies a rejection of who we are, but true contentment can only come from accepting ourselves fully-imperfections and all. This again, doesn’t mean resigning to stagnation or avoiding personal growth; rather, it’s about recognizing that you are enough, even as you strive to improve.
Practicing self-compassion, focusing on your strengths and accepting the progress you’ve made are all key steps towards self-acceptance. Acknowledge your own story, find peace with where you are, stop wishing to be someone else and instead, celebrate the person you’ve become.
