Wish you were someone else?

Section 2 : The pitfalls of comparison

50%

Comparison is often the root cause of feeling inadequate or wishing to be someone else. We tend to compare our weaknesses to others' strengths, forgetting that nobody has it all together. We, for example, look at someone’s thriving career and overlook the years of hard work and setbacks they’ve endured. We see their professional success and ignore the long hours and sacrifices that went into achieving it. This selective perception of others' achievements can make us feel as if we're constantly falling behind.

Breaking the cycle of comparison requires a shift in focus. Instead of measuring your worth against others, consider what makes you unique. Reflect on your personal achievements, talents and strengths-qualities that others might admire in you. Honoring your individuality and recognizing the value you bring, can help you learn to appreciate yourself more fully.
