Hi SMDP Scholars,

You’re invited to a virtual session on Belonging in Industry hosted by AstraZeneca on Wednesday, April 30 from 12:00–1:00 pm ET/9:00–10:00 am PT. This one-hour session is designed for the current 2025 SMDP Scholars and the recently graduated 2024 Scholars from both the SMDP Biotech and SMDP MedTech programs. We are going to explore practical strategies for fostering a sense of belonging in workplace settings, through navigating early career transitions, building inclusive networks, showing up authentically, and advocating for yourself among others. What to expect:

• Framing the conversation: Why belonging matters in industry and how it influences career growth, performance, and wellbeing.
• Real-world perspectives: Insights from AstraZeneca colleagues on creating inclusive teams and thriving in diverse environments.
• Interactive breakout discussions: Small groups focused on scenarios and practical tips you can apply immediately.
• Q&A: Time reserved for your questions and reflections. Preparation (optional but encouraged):
• Consider a recent moment when you felt a strong sense of inclusion—or exclusion—and what influenced that experience.
• Bring one question related to building/belonging in your current or future team.
