Here's this week's SMDP Mentor Moment
The problem with talent

The problem with talent

People admire talent, don’t they? They celebrate it, reward it, even envy it. Talent isn’t always the golden ticket we imagine it to be though. In fact, it can be a trap. When people are told they’re naturally gifted, they often feel the need to prove it, to live up to the expectation that they’re somehow special. It sounds flattering, but it can be suffocating. Instead of promoting growth, it can lead to a fear of failure, an unhealthy obsession with maintaining an image and a reluctance to take risks.
