Here's this week's SMDP Mentor Moment
Imposter syndrome

Imposter syndrome

Many of us, despite our diligent efforts and accomplishments, often find ourselves asking the question, "How did I get here?" or "What if I'm not as capable as they think I am?" It's sadly a common thought especially after reaching our goals, as if the journey itself fades into the background, overshadowed by lingering doubts. We forget the perseverance and dedication that pushed us forward, leading to this moment of achievement.

Why is it that we struggle to acknowledge our own merits and feel undeserving of the rewards we've earned? This perplexing phenomenon is what we commonly refer to as imposter syndrome. Understanding its origins and learning effective strategies to counter it is vital for nurturing self-assurance and acknowledging our true capabilities.
