Madison Jackson Associate Director of Early Oncology Portfolio Analytics, she is responsible for providing analytical support and insight to help drive good investment decision making for Oncology projects in clinical development. These analytics are primarily around topics such as risk, cost, time, and value and focus on best decisions for the portfolio as opposed to individual projects. 

What is the highest degree you have earned and what can you tell us about your academic path?

Master of Translational Medicine. I went from undergraduate straight into my Masters of Translational Medicine (MTM). MTM is a professional degree designed for those interested in building a career in transforming new biomedical discoveries into real-world clinical products.

Where do you work now and what is your company about?

AstraZeneca. We are transforming the future of healthcare by unlocking the power of what science can do, for people, society and planet.

How did you first learn about the company?

I learned about this company through my regular readings of industry news through sources such as Fierce Biotech / Fierce Pharma.

What do you like most about the company?

The innovative nature. I love the concept of being able to pursue science to discover something that can truly transform the treatment landscape.

What skills make you successful in your role and why did you choose this role?

My expertise in data analysis and providing actionable insights has been instrumental in my success in my current role and is a significant reason for my application for this position. I am passionate about influencing key decisions through data-driven storytelling, ensuring that we consistently consider the broader perspective and make the right choices today for the benefit of patients tomorrow.

How do you define success?

Success for me isn't defined by a title or money. As an ambitious person, I always strive to achieve more and make others proud. Success means being proud of my work, doing my best, and making a positive impact on the world.

What's the most fulfilling aspect of your job?

It is incredibly rewarding to work with such talented and passionate individuals and to see how our collective efforts translate into meaningful outcomes for patients.

What advice do you have for students and job seekers?

Be curious. Don’t focus too much on finding the perfect opportunity and instead make the best out of the opportunities given to you. This mindset will not only open doors to unexpected and fulfilling experiences but also help you grow in ways you never imagined.

What book did you read last?

The Nickel Boys. 10/10 recommend. This book is about a tough topic, but written beautifully.
