Rules for success in a mentoring relationship

Section 3 : Establish clear boundaries

50%

Mentorship is a professional arrangement. Mentors and mentees may be friends, but they should treat their relationship with the same decorum as any other business relationship.

The mentor should set ground rules regarding the times when they’ll be available, how to contact them, and what they expect from their charge. In return, the mentee should be clear about what they want from the arrangement and what they’re willing to do in pursuit of their goals.
