One of the reasons people start pulling back is because they see you holding back. And maybe they do not say it directly. But they start offering less. Not because they stopped caring. Because they are giving you space to decide what you want. And that space can feel confusing. It can look like abandonment when really, it is the beginning of accountability.
Mentorship is not supposed to create dependency. It is supposed to help you step into your own voice. Your own drive. And sometimes, the hard truth is that no matter how much someone else sees the path, you still have to walk it. Or choose not to. But either way, the choice has to be yours.
The longer you wait for someone else to spark your ambition, the more time you lose. Time you could have spent trying, failing, adjusting. Moving. You do not have to impress anyone. But you do have to decide what you are willing to put your name behind.
