Section 1 : Decide where you want to work

25%

Every major career change requires some prior research, even if it’s for nothing more than to give you an idea of what you’re getting yourself into.  When you’re making the shift from academia to industry or from one career track to another, you will want to make sure that you’re giving yourself all the tools necessary to succeed and that includes ensuring that the resumes and job applications you’re submitting are appropriate for the jobs you’re applying for.

Start by figuring out where you want to work and what you want to do.  Make a list of potential employers and identify the types of jobs they offer. Put together your top ten and focus on them first, but don’t limit yourself.  Every job you apply for is another opportunity to further your career.
