Some assumptions sound confident. “This is the only way to do it.” “If it didn’t work for them, it won’t work for us.” These ones, especially, tend to get in your way more often than you would like to think. They not only make you rigid, they also block new ideas and keep you stuck in patterns that no longer serve you just because they used to work.

Staying attached to how you have always done things is, of course, easier and that is why we often stick to it. Especially when people around you agree. But if you want to grow as a person, a leader, a builder of anything, you need to stay open to being wrong. You need to stop assuming that what worked before will always be the best way. Because even if it’s not broken, it might be holding you back from something better.
