Are you tired, or unmotivated?

Section 3 : Leaving won’t make it better either

100%

A new job won’t make you feel renewed if, one, you haven’t yet realized that the problem isn’t always the job itself and two, taken the time to figure out what you’ve stopped connecting with. You might not need a new job at all. You might just need your current one to feel different. That can mean asking for a project that excites you, changing up how you work, or tapping into something that’s been missing lately. Maybe learning, meaning, responsibility, or creativity.

Start by finding out what’s changed. What part of your work used to feel rewarding but now barely registers? If nothing’s broken, there’s no need to start over. But also don’t sit back hoping things will resolve themselves or that someone else will step in. Try reconnecting to what made the work meaningful in the first place and see what that does to your energy.

If you find that you’re no longer challenged, ask for something that stretches you. If it’s meaning that’s missing, go deeper into the parts that still feel worthwhile. And if your routine has gone stale, change how you approach it. Even the tiniest shift can wake you up again. Most of all though, act before things reach the point where you’re completely checked out. When you’re lucky enough to feel re-engaged, protect it and don’t let it fade into the background again.
