Take stock of your transferable skills

Description

Over the years, you have developed many skills. You may not have a job yet, but already you have gained transferable skills from school or in volunteer and extracurricular activities. Your transferable skills can be hard skills or soft skills. In general, hard skills require specific expertise or training, whereas soft skills are more difficult to quantify. A transferable skill will most likely be a soft skill rather than a hard skill.

Summary

As you consider a job search or changing roles, it is important to know what you are good at and what you enjoy doing.  It’s always a good idea to skill check yourself and to take stock of your transferable skills, which are useful regardless of the career path you choose. Reviewing your transferable skills is helpful when considering a new career or preparing for career growth or taking on added responsibility.
